Construction Pictures

Saxon Aerospace Museum Under Construction   Saxon Aerospace Museum Under Construction
Work on the interior walls was started in April 2000. Over a half-mile of studs were required to frame the walls, which were followed, by insulation and drywall. Many volunteer man-hours were needed to complete this portion of construction.   Carpet work gets underway with approximately 600 yards of carpet and several sore backs required to complete. Our County Supervisor spent several days helping on this job.

Concrete for the lower section of the fountain has been poured and filled with water. Note the absence of a front porch, which came later.   The center section of the fountain has been added as well as the pedestal. Work on the porch has also started. The construction of the fountain and the adjacent walks required approximately 30 yards of concrete.

The fountain and porch have been completed with the fountain rockwork in place. Individual sponsors can purchase tiles for $35.00 and are displayed around the lower section of the fountain. The funds from the sale of tiles greatly aid in the operation of the museum.   The Saxon Aerospace Museum entrance on opening day April 5, 2003. All showcase, display wall, tile and lighting seen in this picture was fabricated and installed by volunteers.
